Acadia White Kitchen Reface with New Pantry Drawers

This beautiful Entertainers kitchen has served a family of 4 for a busy 10 years. The owners used it for lots of cooking, baking, and family events.

.... But the colour was just not right, .. and a few of the cabinets needed alteration to fit the small appliances accumulating on the countertop. The kitchen needed a facelift and some additional storage. We also wanted to update the style of the cabinets reflecting a more modern contemporary hardware suiting of the the new colour.

The objectives:

Change to a brighter white Colour - Choice - OC-38 Acadia White
Add Drawers to the tall pantry - Reaching the back is a challenge.
Add Drawers to the cabinet that previously held the laundry machines.
Create a built in wine rack and frame the bar fridge that was "floating" in too large of a space within the dryer cabinet.
Softclose hinges on doors and drawers - silence please.

The owners of this cool Galley really love to enjoy friends, and entertaining occasionally - their kitchen is a very social place.

This kitchen has 53 doors that were all removed, prepped and sprayed offsite

The owner loves cooking everyday in this lovely space.

Starting with 30 degree front, Custom Made Drawers

This pantry housed many of the dried goods, the front of the pantry is on a 30 degree angle. Without drawers it was becoming difficult to reach everything inside.

Drawer fronts that parallel the 30 degree front doors were made for this custom cabinet.

They are on soft close Blumotion Drawer slides.
The drawers can be removed easily for cleaning.
The drawers are sprayed the same as the exterior doors in Acadia White Pearl.
All Drawers are soft close Blum hinges and can be removed for cleaning

While on the drawer topic, the cabinets that previously housed the laundry washer and dryer no longer had those appliances since they were moved to a new room. The cabinets needed re-configuration.

We added drawers for small appliances.

Custom Wine Rack and Framed Bar Fridge

The cabinet on the left was looking a little empty with a bar fridge in it and no doors. So we designed a wine rack on the left of the bar fridge with a custom enclosure for the bar fridge. Now the bar fridge has an adjacent wine rack and is completely "built-in".

Retrofitting the cabinets

The internal components of these lower cabinets (once for washer and dryer) were designed to retrofit inside the existing cabinets. They now house the wine rack, bar fridge and pot drawers.

This kitchen has many upper cabinets, including glass doors that needed to be masked.

All of the handles were replaced and a new hole drilled in each cabinet to accommodate modern Satin Nickel handles to update to a contemporary style.

Each cabinet was retrofitted with new Blumotion Soft Close hinges for silent close.

The pot drawers in the laundry cabinet required a new cabinet insert, the hinges have cutouts to allow the new cabinet sides to be placed inside to mount the drawers over.

The new cabinet inserts were custom sprayed as well as the drawers. There is no white laminate being used in the additions for this kitchen. Everything is custom sprayed.

The new drawers are custom sprayed inside and out, and Blumotion drawer slides are attached in hidden recesses under the drawer.

Pushing the orange handle allows for removal of the drawer.

The drawers extend out fully with the new slides to accommodate reaching right to the back of the drawer.

The drawers are set at custom height to accommodate the specific small appliances.

These are new full extension drawers we made to add more pot drawers.

The finish sheen of all doors is sprayed with a pearl finish in a waterborne alkyd product.

The valance under the cabinet was removed and sprayed offsite.
The crown moldings were taped and masked and sprayed onsite.

The drawers have larger handles that fit the inside of the drawer frame.

The crown molding was also repaired in corners where the trim was somewhat loose, by tightening them up and using appropriate adhesive and then caulked to close the gaps.

The crown molding is sprayed the same as the doors.

Acadia White does have different properties in lower light levels and at different angles. That is what makes the colour so alive.

Finials and Wine racks Sprayed Onsite

The existing wine racks and finials along with the peninsula end door were sprayed on site with masks and covers along side them.

Acadia White can have a very warm glow, and be a very bright white in different light volumes.

Choosing the right white colour against the wall colour and countertop colour is sometimes tricky, but can bring a kitchen alive with the right choice.
